“Don’t worry too much about the little things, like getting problems wrong on homework. Those little things are not failures, but steps to success.“
Marco Wiharso
Elementary School: North Scituate Elementary School
Post High School Plans: I will be attending Pomona College in California to study Computer and Environmental Science.
Dream Job: My dream job would be somewhere that would allow me to be independent and work creatively on something I am passionate about. Right now my passions are the the environment and the digital world, and I would like to work in a position that is related to these passions.
Who was your favorite teacher or staff member during your time at SHS?: Mrs. Hersh was my favorite teacher at SHS and she taught AP Computer Science A. She made the classroom a fun learning environment and truly cared for the creativity of her students.
What was your most favorite class you took during your time at SHS?: My favorite class was definitely Spanish throughout my years at SHS because it exposed me to a whole different culture and language. Spanish will definitely be useful in my future as it is one of the most spoken languages in the world and I’m sure it will open up many opportunities for study overseas.
What advice would you give to next year’s ninth-grade students?: Lead a balanced lifestyle. Don’t worry too much about the little things, like getting problems wrong on homework. Those little things are not failures, but steps to success. Try to enjoy the current moment and the people you are with. High school will be over before you know it.
What makes SHS special?: SHS is special because of its size. Some may see it as a downside to the school, but I think it fosters a strong sense of community and family.
