“Take your time and don’t hurry for the next four years, they go by really fast!.“

Elementary School: Hope Elementary School
SHS Pathway: Biomedical Pathway
Post High School Plans: I will be going to the University of Rhode Island to major in Biological Sciences following the pre-med advisory track.
Dream Job: I want to be a pediatrician. I have always loved children and from the time I was about 4 years old, I knew that I wanted to take on the responsibility for treating kids.
Who was your favorite teacher or staff member during your time at SHS?: Mr. Wentworth is my favorite teacher from SHS, he teaches physical earth and science, biomedical innovations, and bio II. Mr. Wentworth never failed to make me laugh and always noticed when I wasn’t myself. He’s been there for all his students, and he is a great representation of a healthy student-teacher relationship with many of his students.
What was your most favorite class you took during your time at SHS?: My most favorite class was Biomedical Innovations from junior year, a class that ended up being an all-girls class taught by Mr. Wentworth. This class was filled with laughs and fun parties. Mr. Wentworth never failed to make us laugh or help us when we needed it. Not only was I able to satisfy my medical interests, but I also made good friends, and I always enjoyed going to the class.
What advice would you give to next year’s ninth-grade students?: Take your time and don’t hurry for the next four years, they go by really fast! Also, don’t be so hard on yourself. Yes, I know it’s high school, but take it easy and let things unfold on their own. Especially academically, not every class is going to be an easy A the way middle school was, but try your hardest and don’t be disappointed in yourself.
What makes SHS special?: SHS is special because of the teachers. The teachers and staff have always cared about the well-being of the students, and are genuinely concerned. They are great at teaching and do what they can to help the students understand the material better, and since this is a small school with small class sizes, teachers are much more approachable and students are better understood.
