Post High School Plans: I will be attending WPI for Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Music Performance and Composition.
Dream Job: My dream job is to lead a concert band or orchestra, I would also love to work as a music teacher later in life.
Who was your favorite teacher or staff member during your time at SHS?: Mr.McCarthy is one of the greatest resources at Scituate High School, and he has been a huge part of my growth at Scituate. He has a habit of staying up until 2 am, meaning that he is always available to help if you need him, and never gives answers in a single sentence. You could ask a simple question and get a response that touched upon 3 other adjacent ideas, which really helped in learning and seeing how the world really connects. He teaches the Engineering pathway classes, and he is one of the hidden gems of Scituate.
What was your most favorite class you took during your time at SHS?: My favorite class was definitely my sophomore Computer Integrated Manufacturing class with Mr. McCarthy. The class was hands on and interactive, and I have learned so much about engineering during my time in that class. I also had the ability to use an acetylene torch, which was an added bonus!
What advice would you give to next year’s ninth-grade students?: High school is much less scary than it seems. The atmosphere is very welcoming and people really try to help you out wherever you go. Don’t worry about making friends; they will come to you.
What makes SHS special?: Because Scituate is so small, it makes the entire community and school extremely intertwined and connected. everyone has heard or knows of everyone else, which brings comfort and safety. The small community makes it easier to relate ourselves to our peers, and sporting events are more personable! It also makes school events like pep rally and Spartan Olympics that much more fun because we know who’s out there in our crowds, and we can cheer even louder for our classmates.
